The FDOT awarded a $56 million construction contract for a transportation facility near the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to LEAD Engineering Contractors and Kaufman Lynn Construction.

The Golden Glades Multimodal Transportation Facility would have 10,450 square feet of retail, 1,700 parking spaces, 53 truck spaces and a 4,500-square-foot transit hub. There would also be a maintenance facility, truck wash, bicycle parking and lockers.

The plan is to help commuters transition between cars, buses, bicycles and the Tri-Rail station to the west. It would be located just southwest of where Interstate 95 meets the Florida’s Turnpike, U.S. 441 and State Road 826. The project would rise along what’s currently an FDOT park-and-ride lot. FDOT plans to start construction this fall and complete the project in early 2020.
