The Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development Council (FSTED) has awarded PortMiami a US$3.9 million grant to improve its cruise terminals and US$108,075 to update security systems.
The port will use the US$3.9 million grant to upgrade its existing passenger terminal buildings and cruise ship berthing facilities. Some of the funding will also be allocated to finance three new cruise terminals, which will be built over the next few years.
Meanwhile, the US$108,075 from FSTED’s new Port Security Grant programme will be used to install 43 night-vision cameras that will improve waterside surveillance.
