The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners will host a hangar milestone celebration at the Treasure Coast International Airport 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13. The county is currently moving forward on advertising for the construction of this project in the near future. This new maintenance, repair and overhaul hangar is now 100 percent-funded and designed to house up to two Boeing 737s or airbus A320/321s for major maintenance activities that can handle up to 10,000 man hours.
The facility will be approximately 45,000 square feet, which will include 5,000-square feet of office space; 5,000 square feet of shop space for tools and equipment, and 35,000 square feet of hangar space for housing the aircraft undergoing maintenance. The county is currently moving forward on advertising for the construction of this project in the near future.
This important project is being developed with grants from the Florida Department of Transportation, the U.S. Economic Development Administration and local matching funds.
